Sammy D. Brittain, 62, of Jackson passed away on January 9, 2014 at the Jackson Madison County General Hospital. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, January 12, 2014 at 2 pm in the South Chapel of George A. Smith and Sons Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Ebenezer Cemetery with Rev. Bobby Beecham officiating.
He was born on March 25, 1951 to the late William Vester Brittain and Ruby Jones in Lexington, TN. He was the owner and operator of several Auto Mechanic shops in South Jackson for over 25 years. He was also associated with Brittain’s Septic Service for over 15 years.
Sammy was well loved by all who knew him and was a devoted family man who loved helping others.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death, by his daughter, Samantha Brittain, his sister, Betty Sue Robertson, and his brother, Cledeth (Bud) Brittain.
He is survived by his finance, Mary Sue James, with whom he spent 18 years of his life, two daughters, Brandi (Kelly) Collins of Pinson and Amy (Tony) Marbury of Jackson; grandchildren, Brittany Marbury, Anthony Marbury, and Anna Crews; step grand-children, Dylan Collins, Myranda Collins, and Madelyn Collins; great grand-child, Brantly MG gee; three sisters, Melba Seaton of Henderson, Irene (Odie) Norwood of Memphis, and Wanda Pickett of Henderson; and one brother, Jimmy Brittain (Wanda) of Jackson.
A visitation with the family will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2014 from 1-5 pm in the South Chapel of George A. Smith and Sons Funeral Home, and will resume on Sunday from 8 am until the service time of 2 pm.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
