Rose was born on May 15, 1940 in Chester County, TN, the daughter of the late Milton Franklin Cross and Coma Delight Sparks Cross. She was a 1958 graduate of Jackson High School. As a young adult, tennis became a favorite pastime. She began working as a receptionist in a dental office for Dr. Franklin Day when she was 19 years old and continued to work in the dental field for the duration of her working years, eventually retiring as the office administrator for Northside Dental Center in Jackson. Mrs. Rose just loved being with her family and watching her grandchildren and great grandchildren play sports, with a particular passion for baseball and softball that she shared with her late husband. She also enjoyed visiting with family and friends and was famous for her strawberry and coconut cakes, which she was always ready to make for anyone who asked.
Rose will be remembered as a loving individual and someone who thought about others rather than herself. She was a warm, thoughtful lady who exemplified the light of Christ in her daily life. She treated everyone as family and strived to teach her grandchildren and great-grandchildren how to do the same.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Rose was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Joe Brown, who also passed on Christmas Eve in 2018; her children, Ronald A. Brown, Donald F. Brown, and Jeffrey T. Brown; and her siblings, Elizabeth Cross, Gordon Browning Cross, and Harold Thomas Cross.
She is survived by her daughter, Pam Brown Galloway (Jim) of Trenton; grandchildren, Kristen Vargason Burkeen of Milan, TN, Kasey Vargason Woelm (Brian) of Millington, TN, and Taylor Galloway (Blair) of Murfreesboro, TN; and six great grandchildren, Aidan Vargason, Kaylie Woelm, Dallas Burkeen, Ava Rose Smith, Harlan Woelm, and Hudson Galloway.
Funeral services for Mrs. Rose will be held on Friday, December 29, 2023 at 12 p.m. at the North Chapel of George A. Smith and Sons. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Gardens. The service will be officiated by Bro. Joey Johnson. The family will receive friends beginning at 10 a.m., two hours prior to the service.
