Paula Gray Young

Paula was born on August 13, 1960 in Mount Pleasant, TN to Virginia Steadman Byrum and the late Jessie Baker Byrum. The Byrum family moved to Jackson when Paula was 2 years old and has remained in Jackson since. Paula graduated high school from Jackson Central Merry and graduated college from Lambuth University. Paula was a teacher in Jackson- Madison County School System for several years.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Rudy Young; and her neice, Stephanie Arwood.

She is survived by her daughter, Rachel Young Reedy (Brad); her mother, Virginia Byrum; and siblings, Carol Moore (Robert) and John Byrum (Lou Ann).

We would like to recognize Sylvia Bonds, Coronda Jones, Mary Jones Burnette, Brooke and Tasheca Taylor for their dedication and care they gave to Paula throughout the years. Their hard work was not only a comfort to Paula but also a blessing to our family. We are forever grateful.

The family will receive friends and loved ones on Friday, December 9, 2022 from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm at the North Chapel of George A. Smith and Sons. The funeral service will follow at 12:00 pm, officiated by Rev. Gerry Campbell. Entombment will follow in the Mausoleum at Highland Memorial Gardens.
