Neva Jo Yates Shelby

Mrs. Neva Jo Shelby, age 82 of Jackson, passed away on Wednesday morning at Maplewood Health Care in Jackson. Neva was born in Holladay, TN and grew up in Parsons, TN where she graduated from Parsons High School. She was a member of Jackson First Assembly of God where she taught Sunday school. She was a seamstress who owned her own business, Neva's Decorative Quilts. She also worked at Oakfield Men's Outlet. Neva loved to sing and play piano, garden, and crochet. She married Paulus Shelby in 1955 and they were married 61 years. She was a wonderful homemaker, and a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter in law, Tina Northcutt Shelby and one brother, Tony Osco Yates.She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Paulus Shelby; children, Paulus Parker Shelby, Jr. (Diane), Beverly Ann Shelby, and Philip Wayne Shelby; granddaughter, Rebekah Rae Shelby; and two siblings, Frances Rebecca Douglas (Jeff) and Gaylon Owens Yates (Fonda).The family will receive friends on Friday evening, August 26, 2016 from 5-8 p.m. at George A. Smith and Sons North Chapel.Funeral services will be held on Saturday afternoon, August 27, 2016 at 2 p.m. at George A. Smith and Sons North Chapel with burial to follow in Highland Memorial Gardens.
