In recent days, she spoke of His offer and had a heartfelt desire for all to know His Promise. She requested a graveside service and asked that the focus be on Christ, not her.
Mary Louise left her hometown of Paducah in 1948 and enrolled in Jackson's Lambuth College with her goal of becoming a teacher. She was soloist of the Lambuth choir and received a Bachelor of Music degree. She was President of her sorority and a member of College Royalty her senior year.
A year after Lambuth, she married her classmate Reggie Smith of Jackson, in 1953. The couple observed seventy years of marriage last July.
The joy of her 94 years was being mother to Kassandra Lynn Smith (the late Edd Smith) and Katherine Louise Smith Neihoff (Wayne) of Jackson.
In 1959, she opened Mom 'n Tot Shop, later becoming Sisters, Inc. enjoying some 50 years of retail.
Entombment will be at Hollywood Cemetery with a private service. George A. Smith and Sons Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
