Marjorie was born on January 31, 1931 in Greenfield, TN to the late James and Mary Monroe. A graduate of Greenfield High School, Marjorie moved to Jackson, TN to work for BellSouth Telephone Company. Soon after moving to Jackson, she met the love of her life, Billy D. Schrivner. After leaving the telephone company, Marjorie had many years of public service with the City of Jackson, Jackson Jr. High School, and the Jackson-Madison County Circuit Court Clerk’s office. In 1980, she, along with Billy’s help, opened Schrivner’s Toys & Games in Casey Jones Village.
She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend who was known for her love of gardening, shopping, and traveling with friends. Married for 58 years to Billy, they enjoyed being together at the dinner table of a favorite restaurant, working outside in the yard, or simply enjoying each other’s company at home. She spent as much time as she could with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a faithful, longtime member of Skyline Church of Christ where she was involved in many different ministries.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy D. Schrivner; beloved daughter, Donna Schrivner Aldrich; brother, Jerry Monroe, and sister, Emily Hopgood.
Marjorie is survived by her son, Russ M. Schrivner; son-in-law, Max (Stephanie) Aldrich, grandchildren, Sylvia Schrivner (Richard) Brown, Stafford (Maria) Aldrich, Chuck (Rachel) Humphrey and great grandchildren, Rebecca and Bentley Brown; Nash, Jovi Kate, and Jodi Maye Humphrey; brother in law, Dale Hopgood, and sister in law, Sarah Monroe.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 2, 2023 at Skyline Church of Christ at 11 AM. Visitation will be from 10-11 AM.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
