She was born on February 18, 1921 in Somerville, TN to Wilkie A. and Virginia Farris Hudson. She lived her entire life in the Malesus community and was a lifelong member of Malesus United Methodist Church.
She was married to William C. “Dick” McGill on January 6, 1942. He preceded her in her death on March 9, 2000.
She graduated from Malesus High School and attended Lambuth College, where she was a member of the Alpha Omega Pi Sorority. She received her Bachelor of Arts from Union University and her Masters of Education from the University of Memphis. She was a member of the Alpha Delta Kappa Professional Society.
Mrs. McGill taught in the Madison County Schools at Medon, Malesus, and Bemis, and at Alexander Elementary School in Jackson. The last thirteen years of her career she was an Elementary Instructional Supervisor in the Jackson City School System.
Margaret Carolyn was nicknamed “Billye” by her grandfather when she was a very young child, and it is by that name that she will be remembered by many of her friends and family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother, J.W. Hudson.
She is survived by her son, Dr. Charles W. McGill and his wife, Colt McGill; two granddaughters, Laura and Ginny McGill; sister-in-law, Carolyn Hudson; nieces, Patricia Hudson Watson and Jamie Hudson Carson; and a nephew, Ross Hudson.
Services for Mrs. McGill will be Saturday, April 4, 2015 at 1 p.m., at Malesus United Methodist Church. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m., two hours prior to the service.
