During his working career, he spent 42 years with the ICG Rail Road. In his earlier years, he raced cars in Jackson and West Tennessee.
Mr. Gilliam is survived by his wife, Shirley Gilliam; daughter, Leanne Tippett (Gary) of Jackson, TN; three sons, Malcolm Gilliam Jr. of Jackson, TN, Jeff Gilliam (Julie) of Virginia Beach and Don Gilliam (Jordan) of Birmingham, AL; four grandchildren, Chris Tippett, Kelli Tippett, Riley Gilliam and Jake Gilliam.
The family request that memorials be made to Concordia Lutheran Church, 637 Wallace Road, Jackson, TN 38305.
Visitation with the Gilliam Family will be held on Tuesday, June 7, 2011 from 4-7 p.m. in the North Chapel of George A. Smith and Sons, 731-427-5555
