On January 15th, 2016, Ken “Kenny” Lynn Reed was called home by our Lord and Savior after a brave battle with cancer and complications of subsequent treatments while at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Born on June 25th, 1956 in Union City, Tennessee to Leon and Nanette Reed, he attended Dyer High School, served in the Air Force and National Guard, and later graduated from Baptist College with a degree in Nuclear Medicine. He worked as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist for 34 years in both Mississippi and Tennessee hospitals and clinics. He was loved by his patients and co-workers. An avid barefoot skier, he spent as much time as possible on the water, in addition to a passion for working on his 1973 Vega. He was an active member of Skyline Church of Christ. He was a beloved husband and father, a loving son and brother, a proud grandfather, and a natural friend to everyone he met. He was the definition of strength and man of Godly character. He was preceded in death by his father Leon Reed. He will be missed and is survived by his mother Nanette Reed, wife Claudia Reed, children Ashley (Ethan) Wing, Cody (Anna) Reed, and Hunter Reed, grand-daughter Sadie Kate Reed, brother Keith Reed, sister Cathy (Jack) Nelson, and a number of other family members and friends who loved and supported him throughout his entire life. Visitation will be held at George A. Smith and Sons Funeral Home, 2812 North Highland, Jackson, TN on Sunday January 17th from 12:30-3:00 pm. Funeral service will immediately follow.
