Graveside services for close family and friends will be held on Friday, June 5, 2020, at 11:00 a.m. at Highland Memorial Gardens in Jackson with the Rev. Barry Scott of Aldersgate United Methodist Church officiating.
Mrs. Wardlow was born on April 21, 1942, to the late William Algea and Kate Burkhead Algea (late). She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Gerald Wardlow, and two sons, Jay and Jeff Wardlow, all of Jackson; daughter-in-law Cynthia Wardlow of Jackson; granddaughters Elizabeth and Hannah Kate Wardlow of Jackson; and brother Bill Algea and sister-in-law Janice Algea of Millington, Tennessee.
Mrs. Wardlow was a dedicated educator who touched the lives of countless students during her career. For the majority of her career, Katherine taught Spanish at North Side Junior High in Jackson and at Jackson Central Merry High School. In addition she taught at Bartlett (Tennessee) High School and at North Side High School in Jackson. She also served as guidance counselor at Bolivar (Tennessee) Central High School.
Mrs. Wardlow was a faithful member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Jackson where she would help with children’s ministry. Also, she was a member and teacher of the Explorers Bible Study. In addition to spending time with her church and faith community, Katherine enjoyed gardening, travel, reading, and playing bridge with friends.
There will be a Celebration of Life Service at Aldersgate United Methodist Church at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her memory to Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 1050 N. Parkway, Jackson, TN 38305 or the Explorers Bible Study, P.O. Box 425, Dickson, TN 37056.
