Visitation will take place Saturday, September 23, 2023 from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm followed by the funeral at 12:00 pm at the South Chapel of George A. Smith and Sons. Burial will follow at Ebenezer Cemetery with Rev. Jack Maness and Chaplain Kelvin Mercer officiating.
Jimmy was born October 21, 1943 in Lexington, TN to the late William Vester Brittain and Ruby Jones Brittain. He was the owner and operator of The Original Jimmy Brittain Septic Tank and Gravel Service for over 50 years in South Jackson.
He is survived by a sister, Melba Seaton of Henderson; his children, Tabatha Tremblay (David) of Jackson, Lydia Spencer (Brian) of Jackson, Leslie Samples (Justin) of Adamsville, and Jacob Brittain (Gentry) of Jackson. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Bailey McLemore (Thomas) of Jackson, Madison Brittain of Jackson, MacKenzie Brittain (Spencer Brooks) of Jackson, Carson Hopkins of Humboldt, Lane Spencer of Jackson, Taylor Tremblay of Chattanooga, Toni Tremblay of Jackson, Duke Samples of Adamsville, Miley Samples of Adamsville, and Charlie Brittain of Jackson. His great grandchildren include Dannie McLemore, Silas McLemore, and Warren Brooks.
His beloved son, Jimmy Isaac Brittain, Jr. preceded him in death on December 2, 2021. Jimmy Jr.'s wife, Shannon, and the boys, Jeremiah and Noah Richie, will always remain part of the family. He was also preceded in death by Cledeth "Bud" Brittain, Betty Sue Robinson, Irene Norwood, Wanda Pickett, and Sammy Dee Brittain.
Jimmy always wanted to be surrounded by family and friends and loved hosting gatherings at his home. Other than spending time with family and friends, he loved his work. Through his work he knew many people in the surrounding area and could always recall a name and where they lived. Often times he could share all the details regarding jobs he had done. His final wishes were for the business to continue to operate and flourish for many more years.
Pallbearers to serve will be Brian Spencer, Lane Spencer, David Tremblay, Robbie Parker, Dewayne Robinson, and Billy Joe Seaton. Honorary pallbearers are James Melton, Glen Jared, and Randy Campbell.
