Janet Irene Maxwell

Funeral services for Janet Irene Best Maxwell, age 55 of Lavinia, will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 24, 2014 at Lavinia Baptist Church, 4200 Hwy 220, in Lavinia with Bro. Steve Osbourne officiating. Interment will follow in Lavinia Methodist Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Maxwell passed away on Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at Jackson General Hospital.

She was born on June 1, 1958 to the late Kenneth and Marian Kernodle Best.

She was a member of Lavinia Baptist Church. She enjoyed crafting and making music with the autoharp, keyboard, and guitar. She was a loving and caring mother and grandmother (especially when the grandchildren wanted pizza). She was a lover of animals and a member of Abate of Tennessee.

She is survived by her husband, Steven Maxwell of Lavinia, TN; five children, Stephanie Leonard (Michael), Katherine Sexton, Josh Leonard (Casey), Cassandra Leonard, and Alexandra Leonard all of Indianapolis, IN; a step son, Timothy Leonard, Jr. of Indianapolis, IN; a sister, Laura Lucas of Brownsburg, IN and William Best of Illinois.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a step brother, Gary.

Pallbearers to serve are Mike York, Josh York, Matt Ivy, Tim Leonard, Mike Leonard, and Josh Leonard.

The family will receive friends on Friday evening, May 23, 2014 from 5-7 p.m. in the sanctuary of Lavinia Baptist Church.
