He will be buried at Roger’s Cemetery in Pinson after a private graveside service. George A. Smith & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel is in charge.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years Eleanor Janice “Jan” Clarke Bailey on August 14, 2023. Surviving are their children Timothy Bailey and Tony Bailey, both of Pinson and Teresa Bailey Freeman (Hal) of Jackson.
Bill was born May 28, 1930, in Lexington, TN to James Roy and Annie Hughes Bailey. He attended Henderson County schools and served his country in the US Navy. Bill was extremely proud of his 50 year career as an IBEW electrician. Early in their marriage, he and Jan moved all over the country as IBEW assigned him to building Air Force bases and missile silos. When they started their family, they bought a small farm in Pinson and spent the rest of their lives there surrounded by family and his beloved Border Collies. He was also an accomplished welder, farmer and avid fisherman.
He was also preceded in death by his parents, brothers, and sisters: Alvin “AT” Bailey, Arminda Bailey Wyatt, Opal Bailey Anderson, James Bailey, Mildred Bailey, Fred Bailey, Beulah Bailey Powers, Paul Bailey, Julian “Red” Bailey, and Sam Bailey.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to St Jude Children's Hospital.
