Funeral services for Mrs. Milam will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2015 at 3 p.m., at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, with Dr. Barry Scott officiating. A private Interment will be held at Highland Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Milam was born on January 29, 1947 in Gibson County, TN to the late Hershel and Evelyn Davidson Smith. Hersha was a fundraiser for the American Heart Association and the American Cancer Society in Jackson, two causes very dear to her heart. She also started Relay for Life in Jackson and Madison County. Hersha was a longtime active member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church where she served the Lord faithfully in the choir and other church activities. She was also an active member of an RV Travel Group.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Dexter Smith.
Hersha is survived by her loving husband of eighteen years, Charles Milam of Jackson; sons, Kevin Benson (Kim) of Memphis, TN, Michael Benson (Jackie) of Enid, OK, Joel Benson (Cindy) of Memphis, TN and Chuck Milam of Jackson; daughters, Tricia Lowery (Mike) of Lexington, TN and Dana Townsend of Bellaire, TX; twelve grandchildren.
Visitation with the family of Hersha Milam will be held on Friday evening, March 6, 2015 from 4-8 p.m., in the North Chapel of George A. Smith and Sons Funeral Home.
The family has requested that memorials be directed in Hersha’s memory to the American Cancer Society.
