Funeral services for Mrs. Helen DeLamar Edwards, age 94, will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at the North Chapel of George A. Smith and Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Dan Camp officiating. Interment will follow in Ridgecrest Cemetery.
Helen passed away Saturday, January 24, 2015 in Dyer, TN.
Mrs. Edwards was born on December 29, 1920 in Columbus, GA. Mrs. Edwards was the daughter of Dr. James Dean and Jesse Mallory DeLamar. Helen was a graduate of Georgia Southern College for Women. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Edwards was a member of First United Methodist Church here in Jackson. She also served as a volunteer "GRAY LADY" at the Jackson-Madison County General Hospital. Helen also spent much of her time as a member of the Jackson Golf and Country Club Ladies Golf Association and also the West TN Senior Golf Association.
Mrs. Edwards is survived by a son, Richard D. Edwards, Sr. ( Dr. Joanie Edwards); two grandsons, Richard D."Ward" Edwards, Jr. (Dr. Christy Edwards) and Benjamin Scott Edwards; and granddaughter, Phoebe E. Foster (Paul Benton Foster, IV). She also leaves several great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Edwards was preceded in death by her husband, Orlo E. Edwards; three sisters, Edna D. Kendrick, Ledra D. Weigart and Martha D. Slaughter; and a niece, Jo Slaughter Bynum.

The family will receive friends on Monday, January 26, 2015 from 5 until 7 p.m. in the North Chapel of George A. Smith and Sons.
