Hazel Brown was born July 2, 1931 to Olga Estelle Garrett Brown and Guy Donovan Brown. Hazel grew up in the Parkburg Community and graduated from Malesus High School and West Tennessee Business College. In addition to being a devoted pastor’s wife, mother and grandmother, she worked at Carroll Farmer’s Co-op and was secretary and bookkeeper at schools and churches. She had a passion for gardening, flowers, the piano and photography. She was a historian and journaled since the age of six.
Hazel was a tremendous inspiration for all who knew her after her auto accident in 2014. Most importantly, she would want you to know she loved Jesus and her church. Hazel married W. Lamar Boothe of Burnsville, Mississippi on November 21, 1954 at Parkburg Baptist Church. She and Lamar served the Lord in several churches in Tennessee and Mississippi throughout their marriage.
She is survived by two sons, Stephen Lamar Boothe and wife Lynn of Huntingdon, TN; Michael Carl Boothe and wife Dorothy of Athens, GA. Three daughters, Emily Boothe Ward and husband Tom of Saint Augustine, FL; Susan Boothe Powell Klanke and husband Mike of Houston, TX; Tena Boothe Moody and husband Jeff of Huntingdon, TN. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren: Denise Boothe Arnold and husband Tim (Colby) of Bruceton, TN; Bridget Rainey Johnson and husband Scott (Griffin and Tegan) of Alexandria, LA; Misty Powell Glover and husband Matt (Maysie and Maddux) of Johnson City, TN; Erin Margaret Ward of Lake Mary, FL; Lauren Powell Watson and husband Chase (Adalie and Hunter) of Houston, TX; Megan Ward Ahrnsbrak (Madison) of Saint Augustine, FL; Daniel Powell and wife Zahra of Houston, TX; Garrett Jay Moody of Jackson, TN; Timothy Donovan Moody of Jackson, TN; Luke Lamar Boothe of Athens, GA; Christina Hope Boothe of Atlanta, GA; Hannah Grace Moody of Huntingdon, TN; John Marrs and Terri Axton (Aaliyah and great granddaughter Braylee) and countless nieces, nephews, cousins and beloved friends.
