She was born on October 24, 1923 in Hardeman County to the late John Tom and Effie Lou Young Pyles. She was a long-time resident of the Bemis community where she worked for the Bemis Company and she ran the Girls YMCA in Bemis, where she touched the lives on many loved ones. Elizabeth was also a member of Liberty Grove Baptist Church. She will be remembered as a very good cook, with a specialty in cakes and pies. Elizabeth was a very sweet lady that loved all people. She loved her family and her friends dearly.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Leroy Overton in 1970 and George Hines in 2002; her grandson, Hunter Overton; and her great granddaughter, Logan Goff; her brother and sister-in-law, Joe Pyles and Faye; her sister and brother-in-law, Charlene Cox and James ; and her brother, Robert Pyles.
She is survived by her son, Roy Overton (Pat); granddaughter, Leah Craig (Carey); great grandchildren, Jack Craig, Jacob Craig, Linzi Johnson (Larry, Sr.), Whitley Rose (Josh Barnes), and Fisher Overton; great great grandchildren, Weston Craig, Blaize Johnson, Cruz Johnson, Hadley Elizabeth Barnes, Larry Johnson, Jr., Joshua Parks, and Zion Johnson; her sister in law, Naomi Pyles; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends and loved ones on Sunday, November 13, 2022 from 2-4 p.m. at the South Chapel of George A. Smith and Sons. Funeral services be held on Monday, November 14, 2022 at 2 p.m. at the South Chapel of George A. Smith and Sons with Bro. Larry Kirk officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Gardens.
