Earl was born on February 18, 1936 in Mt. Gilead, TN to the late Ollis and Willie Mae O’Brien Thompson. He married Betty Lou Thompson in 1954 and they enjoyed 60 married years before she preceded him in death in 2015. He was in the auto body repair industry for the majority of his life and retired from the Madison County School Bus Garage.
Earl was a 32nd degree Mason and a member of #332 St. John’s Lodge where his wife participated in the Order of Eastern Star. He was mostly known for his humor, his love of coon hunting, Nascar trips, and the White River fishing trips he made to Calico, AR. He attended Maple Springs Cumberland Presbyterian Church for his entire adult life.
Mr. Thompson is survived by his two daughters; Kim Thompson McFarland (David) of Jackson, and Judy Thompson McQuillen (Tim) of Jackson. One brother; Robert Lavander Thompson of Beech Bluff, and two grandsons, Jonathan Young, and Holt McFarland.
Funeral Services for Mr. Thompson will be held on Saturday April 16, 2016 at 2:00 pm at Maple Springs Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Beech Bluff with Bro. Jerry Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Maple Springs Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Friday April 15, 2016 from 4 – 7 pm in the North Chapel of George A. Smith and Sons.
