Due to COVID 19 risks, there will be a private graveside service for Mrs. Hopper on Saturday, January 23, at 11:00 a.m. at Ararat Baptist Church Cemetery, Huntersville, Tennessee with Brother J.V. Davis officiating.
Jane Hopper was born June 16, 1928 to James (Jack) Leon Chandler and Edna Simpson Chandler of Medina, Tennessee. She was married to the late Billy Erroll Hopper of the Denmark, Tennessee community.
Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother James Robert Chandler of Medina. Ms. Jane attended Jackson Northside High School where she starred on one of the first girl’s basketball teams of the school. She attended Lambuth college and soon married her husband, Billy. They lived and raised their family in the Denmark community on their family farm. Ms. Jane worked for 17 years at the National Bank of Commerce in Jackson primarily as a Teller where she enjoyed visiting and helping her customers at the bank.
Ms. Jane was a member of Ararat Baptist Church and cherished her church family. She was widely known in the church for her delicious chocolate pies which she proudly prepared for many occasions. Ms. Jane was a devout Christian. She served as a great example to others with her consistent kind, humble,
concerned, considerate and friendly demeanor - never wanting to place an imposition or hardship on others.
Mrs. Hopper is survived by her three children; Billy Jack Hopper (Joanne), Elizebeth Ann Hopper and James (Jimmy) Tigrett Hopper (Kay) - all of the Jackson, Tennessee area - as well as her only grandchild Tigrett (Tige) Reed Hopper (Heather) of Asheville, North Carolina.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to her Caregivers: Becki Bledsoe, Lorna Lewis, Christy (Stevie) Willis, and Lawanda Pirtle who provided exceptional care and love to Ms. Jane.
