He was born February 17, 1946 to the late J.D. And Lessie Cearley Pickens.
He was a member of the 1965 graduating class of South Side High School, in Jackson. He retired from Jackson Madison County General Hospital with over 30 years of service and also retired after 30 years with the Tennessee Army National Guard (Aviation Section).
He was a member of Malesus United Methodist Church, South Jackson Civitan Club and the 30th Sep. Armored Brigade Association.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Sandra Baker Pickens, a daughter, Amy Pickens McRae and a son, Russ Pickens (Jennifer), all of Jackson. He leaves behind 3 precious grandchildren Nicole McRae, Garrett and Jake Pickens. He also leaves 2 brothers, Jim Pickens (Beverly) of Memphis and Gary Pickens (Paula) of Jackson.
Graveside services will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday December 23, at Ebenezer Cemetery in Malesus, with Rev. Travis Penny officiating.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to Malesus United Methodist Church or to a charity of your choice.
Masks and social distancing will be expected.
