Born on October 21, 1943, David was a lifelong resident of Tennessee who dedicated his life to hard work, faith, and family.
A 1961 graduate of Lexington High School, David went on to serve his community with the United States Postal Service, retiring after 37 years of faithful service. In addition to his postal career, he was the proud owner and operator of Market Fresh Produce for 40 years, where he built lasting relationships with customers and friends alike.
David was a devoted fan of the Tennessee Volunteers and a faithful member of the Pleasant Plains Church of Christ. His steadfast spirit and warm sense of humor were felt by all who knew him.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Loyd and Gladine Lewis Barker, and his brother, Sammy Barker.
David is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Martha “Marty” Patterson Barker; his daughter, Davida Barker; his sister, Melissa Koskinas; sister-in-law, Nancy Barker; and a host of special nieces and nephews who will miss him dearly.
Funeral services will be held at George A. Smith and Sons North Chapel. Visitation will be Friday, April 11th, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. The funeral service will take place on Saturday, April 12th, at 3:00 PM, followed by burial at Ridgecrest Cemetery in Jackson, Tennessee.
David’s life was a testament to faith, family, and community, and his legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
