Bonnie was born on March 23, 1936 in Jackson, TN to the late Clyde and Carnala Webb Stanfill. She was united in marriage on June 18, 1958 to Charles Wayne Holmes, Sr. She and her husband were active members of Bemis Pentecostal Church. Wayne and Bonnie were the managers of Jackson Skate Center South for many years.
After high school, Bonnie went to work for Woolworth’s and then went on to a long career at the Bemis Cotton Mill where she retired. After retirement, she went to work as a school bus driver for the Jackson-Madison County School System.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Wayne Holmes, Sr.; and her brother, Gerald Stanfill.
She is survived by her three children, Cindy Holmes Roe (Richard), Charles W. “Chuck” Holmes, Jr. (Renee), and Alice Holmes Roe (Jimmy) all of Jackson; four grandchildren, Amber Roe Davis (Alan), Jeremy Roe (Melissa), Carrie Roe Pledge (Thomas), and Erin Roe Fowler; eight great grandchildren, Christopher Davis, Brayden Roe, William Davis, Austin Roe, Elijah Davis, Piper Ann Pledge, Bailey Mae Pledge, and Kaylee Roe. She is also survived by her sister, Patty Wilken (Dan) and her sister in law, Lois “Sissy” Stanfill.
The family will receive friends and loved ones on Friday, March 17, 2023 from 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm at the South Chapel of George A. Smith and Sons. Visitation will resume on Saturday, March 18, 2023 from 10:00 am – 11:00 am. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am at the South Chapel of George A. Smith and Sons and will be officiated by Rev. Bill Luther. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Gardens.
