Bill was born on April 2, 1936 in Farmersville, TX to the late B.H. Ranne and Jimmie Lee Bates Ranne. He grew up in Dallas and spent most of his boyhood days with his twin brother, Bobby. He developed a love for science in his teen years, particularly chemistry and went on to achieve a Masters of Science in Chemistry from Baylor University in Waco Texas. Bill’s career would be spent as a paint and coatings chemist. He served as the president of the Dallas Paint and Coatings Association for many years.
As a lover of trees and the environment, Bill built “Reliable Coatings,” in Jackson Tennessee in 1983. Reliable was a powder coatings business using recycled plastic and other waste products as renewable resources. He was a man who believed in turning “waste into wonders” as he once said. He was an innovator in his field and an inventor. He, along with his father B.H., hold several US Patents until this day.
Bill gave his life to the Lord at a Billy Graham rally in Dallas Texas as a young man. His servant heart and gentle soul were the hallmarks of his character. He was a loving and dedicated father and Papa.
He was a safe place and a rescuer of so many stray dogs and kitties. His loves included, singing in the choir at Madison Baptist Church, golf, Dallas Cowboys football, good seafood, travel, dancing (particularly tap dancing), and most of all his wife Judy, who he adored.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son Steven Ranne and his twin brother Bobby C. Ranne.
Bill is survived by his wife, Judy Steed Ranne of Jackson; children, Andrea Ranne and Mark Ranne of Dallas, TX and Paige Ranne McCormick (Jeff) of Jackson; his grandson, Micah McCormick; he was a beloved “Papa” to Bonnie Steed, Joel McCaferty, Matthew Jetton, Megan Granger and many many others.
The family will receive friends and loved ones on Sunday, November 6, 2022 from 12:30 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. at Madison Baptist Church, 930 Steam Mill Ferry Rd., Jackson TN 38301. The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. with Bro. Greg Gilbreath officiating and music by Bro. Don Chism. Burial will follow at the Hall and King Cemetery in the Madison Hall Community.
Active pallbearers to serve will be Jeff McCormick, Micah McCormick, Matthew Jetton, David Prince, Harold Vann, and Will Bell.
