She was born on September 21, 1935 and raised in Humboldt, TN. After proudly graduating from Humboldt High School, she went on to serve in several occupations. She was co-owner of the Steak Café and Ann & Betty’s Grill in Jackson, TN. She also served many years as a customer service representative and credit manager at JC Penney’s in Jackson, where she retired.
She was baptized at West Jackson Baptist Church, along with her mother and son, in 1979, and later became a member of Englewood Baptist Church. She loved the Lord with all her heart and often reminded her family and loved ones that she prayed for them daily. In her last days, physically unable to leave home, she loved to watch the sermons of Dr. David Jeremiah on television.
She loved life, and she loved her family. She was a dedicated mother, first and foremost, and especially loved her life as Nana to her grandchildren for the past 24 years. More than words can say, she was loved by her family and all those close to her. Over the years, she truly filled the role of matriarch to her immediate family. She had a caring personality and was light-hearted, gifted with making others laugh. She resided in Sevierville, TN over the last 18 years, where she shared a home with her son and family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William “Bill” Garmany, her grandfather, William “Buck” Dean, her mother, Anna Mae Piercey, her uncle, Garland Dean, her aunt, Aileen Dean, and her aunt (often called her sister), Rachel Toy-Weaver.
She is survived by her only son, David Garmany and his wife, Tracie Silliman Garmany, along with grandchildren, Mattea Griffus (and husband Andrew Griffus), Joseph Garmany, Victoria Garmany, and Abigail Garmany.
She will be laid to rest at Highland Memorial Gardens in Jackson, TN on Tuesday, February 22, 2022.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.GeorgeASmithandSons.com for the Garmany family.
