Winnie Farmer Dilmore Mize

Winnie Farmer Dilmore Mize, 80 passed away peacefully during the early hours of Wednesday, October 21, 2015 as a result of Alzheimer’s. Visitation will be Friday, October 23, 2015 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Lakewood Funeral Home and Saturday, October 24, 2015 from 10:00 to 11:00 am at Morrison Heights Baptist Church with services to follow at 11:00 am. Interment will be at Lakewood Memorial Park.

Winnie was born April 9, 1935 in Sontag, MS, to the late Hosie and Ella Farmer. She married Clarence Dilmore in 1955 and they lovingly raised three adopted children in Clinton, MS. During her professional career, she served as the secretary to the Hinds County Board of Supervisors, bookkeeper for the City of Clinton, secretary to the pastor at Morrison Heights Baptist Church, and secretary to Paul Nunnery at the Baptist Children's Village. She was a long time member of Morrison Heights Baptist Church, even from its earliest days. She was also active in the Clinton Pilot Club, Garden Club and Sunshine Squares and Bayou Squares and Round dance clubs.

A devoted wife, sister, mother and grandmother, Winnie left behind a family that loved and cared for her. She is survived by her husband, Robert Mize; son, Darryl Dilmore (Lynn) of Clinton, MS; daughters, Laura Jackson (Kevin) of Clinton, MS, and Jana Hardy (Larry) of d'Iberville, MS; grandchildren, Jessica Dilmore, Caleb Dilmore, Joshua Dilmore, Anna Kate Jackson, Ashley Jackson and Adam Jackson all of Clinton, and Tayler Hardy and Dylan Hardy of d'Iberville, MS; sisters, Catherine Spencer and Ollie Mae Anding; stepchildren, Allen Mize of Madison, MS, Laura Richards of Germantown, TN and Barbara Johnston of Collierville, TN. She is preceded in death by her parents and siblings Edgar Farmer, Edward Farmer, JC Farmer, Roy Farmer, Luther Ray Farmer and Sarah Ruth Helms.

Memorial donations may be made to Mississippi Children's Home Society, Morrison Heights Baptist Church Greater Still Campaign, or the Baptist Children's Village.
