William Wade "Bubba" Melton, Jr.

William Wade "Bubba" Melton Jr., 90, passed away peacefully at the Woodland Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center Tuesday, August 22, 2023. A service will be held at Lakewood Funeral Home on Friday, August 25, 2023 at 11:00 am with visitation beginning at 10:00 am. Interment will follow at Lakewood Memorial Park.

Mr. Melton was born on December 19, 1932 in Vaiden, MS to the late William Wade Melton, Sr. and Helen Elizabeth. He was a Korean War Veteran and served in the United States Army. He retired from Complete Auto Transit and was a Teamster member for over 25 years. He was a faithful and devoted follower of Christ and a member of Providence Presbyterian Church.

He enjoyed many things throughout his lifetime, most of which were spending time with his grandchildren, great grandchildren, and beloved friends and family. He was known for his love of country music. You could find him listening to the Grand Ole Opry Radio station every Friday and Saturday night.

He is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 68 years, Janie Tucker Melton; parents; sister, Sarah Melton Ferguson, and infant granddaughter, Ashleigh Marie Melton.

Mr. Melton is survived by his children, Don Melton (Debbie) of Clinton and Donna Prewitt (Stan) of Madison; 5 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
