Mr. William “Horace” Hughes, 94, passed away on October 28, 2014. Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 30 from 1:00-3:00 pm at Lakewood Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm in the chapel followed by interment at Lakewood Memorial Park.
Mr. Hughes was born on September 3, 1920 in Smith County. He moved to Jackson after graduating from Polkville High School. He was retired from Knox Glass in Flowood. He was a faithful member, Sunday School teacher and deacon at Southside Baptist Church for more than 50 years.
He is survived by his wife Irene; his daughter Ann Edwards and husband Lee; his grandchildren Tyler and Michelle; and many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Southside Baptist Church's inner city ministry, 800 Raymond Rd, Jackson, MS 39204.
