Von B. Dunaway passed away at his home on June 1, 2020, at the age of 104. Born to J.B. and Emma Dunaway on Aug. 16, 1915, in Enon, Miss., he grew up on a farm in Rolling Fork. He and Mildred, his wife of 62 years, raised their family in Jackson, where both were extremely involved in the community and had a passion for global travel. In 1950, he purchased Capital Welding Supply, a welding supply and industrial gas company, which grew into a successful family business that came to be known as Capweld, the Welding Supermarket, which was later run by his son, daughter-in-law and grandson, with many locations throughout the state of Mississippi. Throughout his life, Von was involved in the community, as the oldest member of both the Metro Jackson Chapter of Lions Club International and Woodland Hills Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by his wife Mildred Bourne Dunaway, daughter Gayle Johnston and ten brothers and sisters. He is survived by his son Dean Dunaway, daughter-in-law Ginger Dunaway and their children Jennifer Smith (Dunaway) and her husband Brian, Andrew Dunaway and his wife Carley, his great-grandson William Dunaway and beloved caretakers that have become like family including Queen, Brad and Jerry Bradford and Robert Brown. A private family ceremony was held. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Gallant Hearts Guide Dog Center.
