Rebecca Denley Martin

Mrs. Rebecca Denley Martin, 88, died June 27, 2021. Mrs. Martin had endured a lengthy illness, at her home of 57 years, and was lovingly cared for by her granddaughter, Christi Rowland and her husband Alex Rowland, but sadly had to spend her final hours, with family by her side, at Hospice Ministries. Visitation will be on Wednesday, June 30, 2021 from 9 am to 11 am with a funeral service to follow at Lakewood Funeral Home. Burial will be at Lakewood Memorial Park.

Mrs. Martin was a Coffeeville native and had lived in Jackson and Raymond most of her life. She was a graduate of Coffeeville High School. Mrs. Martin worked at the G.E. Plant in Jackson and it was there that she met her future husband. She later served a bookkeeper for their family businesses. She also developed her own skin care business which she ran for more than 10 years, and she also worked as Dorm Mother of Hinds Community College.

There was not a better wife, mother grandmother or great-grandmother than Ms. Becky or also known as Nana. She was a giver and willing to help others whenever she could. She and Mr. Martin were members of Palestine Baptist Church where she was very active in the music ministry.

Mrs. Martin was preceded in death by her husband, James M. "Jimmy" Martin. They were married at Forest Hill Methodist Church September 30, 1950 and had celebrated 50 years of marriage prior to his passing on May 14, 2001. She was also preceded in death by her parents, George Edward and Alma Wright Denley; two sisters, Mrs. Catherine Wells and Mrs. Margaret Langham; five brothers, Don Gale Denley, George Edward Denley, John Robert Denley, Paul Criss Denley and Alfred Lawrence Denley; great-grandson, Brady Martin.

She is survived by her daughter, Sandra Martin Duckworth and her husband, Jackie Duckworth of Terry; son, Gale Martin and his wife, Mary Lynn Lindamood Martin of Collins; brothers, Jerry Lynn Denley and Larry Wright Denley; grandchildren, Christi Duckworth Rowland and her husband, Alex Rowland, Jeffery Duckworth, Matthew Martin and Daniel Martin; great-grandchildren, Rebecca Hannis, Garrett Duckworth, Madeline Duckworth, Ainsley Martin, Colt Martin and Boston Martin.
