Maude Sugg Carroll passed away at Baptist Hospital in Jackson, MS on Friday, July 27, 2012. Visitation will be held from 12 noon – 2 p.m. on Wednesday, August 1 at First Presbyterian Church, and Thursday, August 2 from 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. with services immediately following at First Presbyterian Church of Jackson. Burial will follow at Lakewood Cemetery. Wright and Ferguson is in charge of the arrangements.
Maude was born on February 8, 1932 in Jackson, MS to George Lemon Sugg and Mauude Stone Sugg. She was a graduate of Central High School. She attended Millsap’s College and graduated from University of Mississippi where she was an active Chi Omega. She married Maurice Lyle Carroll on December 17, 1954.
She was a member of the Jackson Jr. League, the Debutante Club of MS and the Demitasse Luncheon Club. She was a life long member of First Presbyterian Church.
Before owning her on travel business, she worked at Globescan Travel. She inherited her love for reading and travel from her father, the late George Lemon Sugg.
Maude was preceded in death by her loving husband of 57 years, Maurice Lyle Carroll. She is survived by her daughters Lee Carroll Karajman (George) of Jackson, MS and Alice Carroll Jones (Robert) of Flint Hill, VA, two grandchildren, Elizabeth Lee Karajman and Parker Lyle Jones and one great grandchild, Grayson Lyle Sparkman.
