Mary Jones Griffin, 96, entered her Heavenly home on Thursday, July 19, 2018. Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 22, 2018 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm at Lakewood Funeral Home with a service to follow at 3:00 pm. A graveside service will be held on Monday, July 23, 2018 at 10:00 am at Lakewood Memorial Park.
Mrs. Griffin was born in Walnut Grove, MS to the late Lacey and Trudy Benton Jones in 1922. In 1940 she married the love of her life, the late D R Griffin. Mary was a loving wife, dedicated daughter and loyal friend to many.
Mary worked for Woolsworth as a Supervisor for 41 years. In their free time, she and her husband loved collecting, restoring and re-purposing items to sell or give away. Some of her fondest memories were the years that she and her husband lived on the coast in Biloxi, MS.
For many years, Mary and D R were active members of First United Methodist Church in Clinton, MS. They had a special love for caring for people and animals. Mary attributed her longevity to honest living, hard work and living for Christ.
Mary is preceded in death by her husband; sisters, Kathleen Eager and Dorothy Bryant; brothers, Golden Jones, Robert Jones and William D. Jones. She is survived by her sister, Rita Peters; special friends, Pauline Rule and Phillip Jones; numerous nieces and nephews.
