Martha Jean Jordan, 84, died peacefully in her sleep at home surrounded by her family on Thursday, December 8, 2016, due to a lengthy illness. Funeral services will be held for Martha on Saturday, December 10, 2016 at Lakewood Funeral Home at 10 am, with a visitation held one hour prior to service. Burial will immediately follow at Lakewood Memorial Park. She was preceded in death by her parents, Buell Roscoe Carty and Hazel Lea Carty; her husband of 47 years, Max Wayne Jordan, Sr.; her brother, Buell Roscoe Carty, Jr.; her sister, Polly Therrell; four beloved nephews and one niece. She is survived by her children, Cheryl (Steve) Jones of Gulf Breeze, FL, Susan (Mike) Clark of Stafford, VA, and Wayne (Tommi) Jordan of Learned, MS; her six grandchildren; and four great grandchildren. Martha loved attending Salem Baptist Church, working faithfully in the hospitality and home bound ministries. She was a very young girl when she began her life-long relationship with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Martha was one of many original supporters and contributors to The Mustard Seed of Jackson, MS, and to Sun Valley of Canton, MS. Thirty years ago, she was a charter member of a very successful home maker’s club called, “The Country Girls”, which is still active today.
