Leslie Ann Clark Rimmer was born in Plainfield, New Jersey on February 20,1957 to Thomas and Nancy Clark. She had one younger sister, Mary Laurie. She grew up in Clinton, Mississippi, and graduated from Clinton High, class of ‘75. She went to Belhaven College and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Piano Performance. She went on to study at the University of Southern Mississippi for a Master’s in Piano.
Leslie was an Elementary School teacher briefly. During this time, she was introduced to her student Whitney’s favorite Uncle Bo, and the rest is history. She married James Cooper “Bo” Rimmer in 1984 and they had their first child, Mary Ashley, in 1985. They liked her so much, they went on to have 6 more children, Cooper, Ben, William, Elliot, Theresa, and Jake. Leslie then devoted her life to providing the best possible life for her husband and children. She home schooled all seven children, while ferrying them to baseball, soccer, football, violin, cello, piano, guitar, banjo, and countless other practices, lessons, recitals, and games. She pushed her family to do their best in everything that they did - but loved and supported them either way.
Leslie loved reading and loved music. Her favorite artists were Jackson Browne and Eric Clapton. She read voraciously to the very end of her life. She was proud of having become sufficiently fluent in German during college to broaden her love of reading into a second language.
Leslie and her family were long time members of Pinehaven Presbyterian Church, where her husband Bo is a deacon. Her house was always open for all the children and friends to gather, and she cared for anyone who came through her door as if they were her own. She was allergic to animals, but did not let that stop her from taking in and caring for the many stray cats, dogs, squirrels, hermit crabs, and more who came through her door. Leslie especially loved turtles and was well known for stopping the car to help turtles cross the street or take them to the vet no matter where she was going.
Leslie passed away peacefully in her sleep at home in Clinton, Mississippi on November 6, 2023 surrounded by family after a long battle with cancer.
Leslie is survived by her loving husband of 39 years Bo, her seven devoted children, Mary Ashley, Thomas Cooper (Chantal), James Benjamin (Amy), William Shelby (Leigh), John Elliot (Anna Kate), Ann Theresa, and Jacob Lawrence; four grandsons, James Clark, Ryan Guy, Elisha Monroe, and Samuel Wallace; and her sister Laurie Cathey (Tommy).
A visitation for Leslie will be held Thursday, November 9, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Lakewood Funeral Home, 6011 Clinton Blvd, Jackson, Mississippi 39209, followed by a celebration of life at 2:00 PM. Leslie will be laid to rest in Clinton Cemetery, Clinton, MS.
