Mr. John Wesley Moffett, a devoted husband and father, passed away at the age of 92, on Monday, March 2, 2015 at Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola, FL. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, March 7, 2015 at Lakewood Funeral Home in Jackson, MS with visitation one hour prior to services. Interment will follow at Lakewood Memorial Park.
Mr. Moffett was born on August 23, 1922 to the late Carl Edward Moffett, Sr. and Mary Olivia Williamson Moffett. He received an education at the University of Southern Mississippi then enlisted in the U.S. Merchant Marines where he became a Marine Engineering Officer. He was a member, since 1977, of the Metro Jackson Civitan Club and Shriners International. Mr. Moffett was a longtime member of Capitol Street Methodist Church and later attended Epworth United Methodist Church. He worked for Du-Stan Metal Goods as a building material specialties salesman.
Mr. Moffett is survived by the love of his life, Alice Owens Moffett; daughters, Dr. Janice M Buckley, husband Dr. Don Buckley and Sheryl Brady-Teske, husband Jim; grandchildren, Christopher Buckley, Brittany Brady, Brooke Brady and Becca Buckley. He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Carl Edward Moffett, Jr.
