Jimmy Ray Smith, 76 went to be with the Lord on Friday, April 11th, 2025, at Baptist Hospital in Jackson, MS. He was born in Jackson on November 1, 1948, to Ernest Gransville Smith and Ruby Nell (Nellie) Mahon Smith.
Jimmy graduated from Central High School in 1966 and then attended Hinds Jr. College. Jimmy served in the Marine Corps from January 1969 to January 1976. He is a member of Morrison Heights Baptist Church in Clinton, MS.
Jimmy is survived by his wife Melinda Franklin Smith of Clinton, MS; sons, James Wade Smith (Melanie) of Pearl, MS, and Michael Brandon Smith (Samantha) of Columbus, MS; six grandchildren, Andrew Smith (Holly), Avery Smith (Brandi), Annah Brooke Smith, Hunter Smith, Stella Smith, and Drake Smith; 7 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Ernest Smith Jr (Alisa), David Smith (Teri), and Roger Smith (Paula); two sister, Janice Robinson, and Lisa Vance (Mike).
A visitation for Jimmy will be held Tuesday, April 15, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Lakewood Funeral Home, 6011 Clinton Blvd., Jackson, Mississippi 39209, followed by a celebration of life at 1:00 PM. Jimmy will be laid to rest in Lakewood Memorial Park.
