Jimmie Louis King, age 93, of Madison, Mississippi passed away on Tuesday, December 17, 2024. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 1:00 to 2:00 PM at Lakewood Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 2:00 PM.
Mr. King was born on August 27, 1931, in Mangum, LA. In 1960 he started working for the Mississippi Department of Employment Security as a data processing clerk until his retirement in 1993. He was a longtime, faithful member of Van Winkle Baptist Church where he was active with youth ministries and many other missions and activities. He also served as an assistant scoutmaster for over 15 years in the Jackson area. He enjoyed being a little league baseball coach, softball coach, and basketball coach for the youth. He later moved to Twin Lakes Baptist Church where he was very active in his Sunday school classes, and a dedicated Deacon serving the Lord. Mr. King also was a board member of the Lake Lorman Community in Madison, MS for many years. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, and loved the outdoors. He enjoyed working with wood building birdhouses for his family. Mr. King loved the Lord and shared the Lord with so many in his lifetime. He loved so deeply, giving the best hugs and smiles. His caring soul was one of his many traits that everyone loved about him. It was important to him to serve the Lord, work hard, and provide for his family. He appreciated all people and respected those who cared for him and loved him unconditionaly.
He is preceded by his wife of 68 years Janette J King "Sweet Thang" in 2021, his parents, a brother, and a sister.
He is survived by children, Victor Louis King (Wendy), Karen King Findley (Holley), Gayla L. King, Bobby Kendale King (Edie), and Herbert M King; grandchildren, Laine Britt (Terry), Landon King (Leslie), Brad Walters (Reagan Woods), Michael Aaron King (Allison), Brittney Cates (Brad), Paxton King, Robbie King (Julie), Ryan King, and Kaitlyn King, 12 great-grandchildren and extended family.
