James was a charter member of Country Woods Baptist Church and loved his Sunday School Class. His family and church family were the center of his life. He also enjoyed camping, watching the Saints games and driving his tractor. James was retired from the Jackson Fire Department.
He is preceded in death by his parents, John E. and Velma Terrell Dunaway; his wife, Charlene R. Dunaway. He is survived by his son, Jay Dunaway (Karla) and his son, Jason Dunaway (Brittany); daughter, Melissa Hardy (Patrick) and her children, Andrew Shelby (Megan) and Brandon Shelby (Cassi); six great-grandchildren.
A visitation for James will be held Tuesday, July 19, 2022 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Country Woods Baptist Church, 6737 S Siwell Road, Byram, Mississippi. A funeral service will occur Tuesday, July 19, 2022 at 11:00 AM, 6737 S Siwell Road, Byram, Mississippi. A graveside service will follow Tuesday, July 19, 2022 at Lakewood Memorial Park, 6000 Clinton Blvd, Jackson, MS.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in James' memory may be made to St. Jude.
