Born on Feb 21, 1925, in Harlan, KY, Mr. Howard joined the United States Army at 16 years old, where he served our country for 31 years! After serving in WWII,Korea and Vietnam, Mr. Howard retired a decorated sergeant major with 4 Purple Hearts and 3 Bronze Stars! Following his retirment from the military, Mr.Howard served as a Deputy U.S. Federal Marshall for 13 years.
Mr. Howard was a member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church in Madison, MS, and was an active member of The Gleaners Sunday school class.
Mr. Howard is preceded in death by his late wife, Roberta E. (Bobbie) Howard.
He is survived by a sister, Marjorie Howard Reed of Boston, MA, a son, William Earl (Bill) Howard (Milady), of Ocean Springs, MS, a daughter, Gail Howard Moore of Byram, MS, a daughter, Joanne Howard Hamilton (Kevin) of Brandon, MS. Mr. Howard also is survived by his granddaughter, Amanda White of Pascagoula, MS, a grandson, Devin Wellborn of Hattiesburg, MS, and two great-grandchildren, and close family friend, Oneda H.Mullen, as well as many more close neighbors & friends.
Visitation will be 4-6pm today at Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home on High Street in Jackson. Funeral services will be 11:00am Monday July 18, 2011 at the funeral homne preceded by visitation at 10am. Burial will follow in Lakewood Memorial Park.
