He spent his childhood in Kentwood, Louisiana. After graduating from Spring Creek High School, he moved to Jackson and went to work for Mississippi Power and Light where he spent the next 42 years. HF has been a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) for over 77 years! In 1953, HF married Lucy Ingram, the love of his life. HF retired in 1991 at the age of 62. HF and Lucy raised two sons and enjoyed traveling around the country, but their true passion was spending time with family and spoiling the grandchildren. HF and Lucy were married for 64 years 11 months, until he laid her to rest in 2018 after a long illness. HF was a member of Park Place Baptisit Church in Brandon.
After a long productive life, HF lived to be 94 years and 8 months young. He always made sure to include the months when giving his age.
He is survived by two sons Tim Hart (Amy) and Don Hart (Susan), four grandchildren Jeremy Hart, Joshua Hart (Katherine), Samantha Hart Maxam (Tony), and Valerie Hart, and two great-grandsons Holten and Paxton Hart, and one beloved grand-dog, Harley.
HF is preceded in death by his wife Lucy, his brother William Shelton (Bill) Hart, and his infant sister Sylvia Sue Hart.
A visitation for Howard will be held Saturday, March 2, 2024 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Lakewood Funeral Home, 6011 Clinton Blvd, Jackson, Mississippi 39209, followed by a celebration of life at 2:00 PM. HF will be laid to rest in Lakewood Memorial Park.
