Mrs. Wooten was born June 2, 1924, in Carthage, Mississippi, to Ernest and Clara
Burch. She grew up in the Reformation Community and graduated from Carthage High
School.
She was married May 9, 1942, to Hugh G. Wooten, her husband of over 65 years. She
worked in Jackson for School Pictures Inc. and MS Department of Rehabilitation where
she retired in 1985. She taught Sunday school many years at the First Cumberland
Presbyterian Church in Jackson. The last several decades she has been a member of
the Wildwood Baptist Church in Clinton.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Hugh Wooten, her sister, Jenny Adean Burch,
her brothers, James Quitman Burch and Shelby Burch, and a grandson, Steve Acton
(Somer).
She is survived by her daughters Janiece Acton (Ken) and Susan French (Jim), her
grandchildren K. Hugh Acton (Rachel), Nate French (Elizabeth), and Shelley Bryant
(Ben), and eight great grandchildren: Arthur Acton (Mercy), Eleanor Acton, Jane Acton,
Alfred Acton, Morgan Acton (sister Harper), Allie French, Cooper Bryant, and Parker
Bryant.
She was our Mamaw and we loved her every bit as much as she loved us.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 26, 2022 from 10 am to 11 am at Lakewood Funeral Home with a funeral service to follow. Interment at Lakewood Memorial Park.
