Glen Allen Byrd, 81, of Jackson, MS, went to be with our Heavenly Father on January 9, 2024, while at his home surrounded by his family who adored him. He was born on January 22, 1942, in Jackson, MS, to Barney Barton Byrd and Lucille McGraw Byrd. Glen was a hardworking man who dedicated his life to his family. He was well known and respected in the wallpaper business as the owner of Byrd Wallcovering. He was also a jack of all trades and a helping hand to anyone in need. He was greatly loved by everyone that knew him.
Glen had a deep love for the Lord and cherished his family. He had a great sense of humor and truly enjoyed life. In his free time, Glen had a passion for hunting, fishing, and restoring classic cars, trucks, and farm equipment.
He is survived by his loving wife of almost 63 years, Jo Ann Byrd, and his five children: Glen Byrd (Angel), Mike Byrd (Michelle), Steve Byrd (Janet), Laura Byrd Mullins (Johnny), and Paul Byrd. Glen was also blessed with 19 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Glen was preceded in death by his father, Barney Byrd, his mother, Lucille McGraw Byrd, and his brother, Larry Byrd.
A celebration of his life service will be held at Lakewood Funeral Home, located at 6011 Clinton Blvd, Jackson, MS. Contributions in Glen's memory can be made to Gateway Rescue Mission or the Salvation Army.
