George Milam Parham, Jr, went to his Heavenly home on Sept 19, 2024 in Clinton, MS, after losing his battle with cancer. He was born in Kosciusko, Mississippi on January 30,1944 the eldest child of George Milam Parham and Marion Avis McMillian . The family relocated to Jackson where George graduated Provine HS in 1962. George was known around town for his 1955 Apple Green Chevrolet. He
joined the Army National Guard after High School. He played the trombone in the National Guard 41st army band for 23 years. He attended Hinds Junior College before starting a long career with Stuart C. Irby Company in Jackson. He retired as manager of the fixture department. He then started another career with Sylvania Lighting and retired from there.
George was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing pool on a snooker table. Monday afternoon was his regular day to enjoy playing pool with long time friends and his son, Mike. He and Gloria enjoyed their retirement by starting camping with the Good Sams Club, then traveled with The Country Campers. He rode many a mile on his Honda Gold Wing. George was known for his immaculate yard and took great
pride in how their lawn looked.
In recent years George enjoyed visiting with his “buddies” at the daily coffee club at the Healthplex in Clinton - while Gloria did her walking!
He and Gloria are active members of Pocahontas Baptist Church where he enjoyed his men’s adult Sunday school class.
George is survived by his wife of 36 years….Gloria G. Parham, his son Mike Parham of Brandon, Jeff Parham of Seattle, Washington; son Russ & Kathy Shaw of Oxford. Grandchildren , Michaela Bowen (Caleb) of Gulfport, Drew (Anna Hayden) Shaw of Clinton, Anna Kate Shaw of Brandon. He also has 2 great grandchildren that he enjoyed seeing recently. His brother Charlie and wife Theresa Parham survive him.
Services will be at Pocahontas Baptist Church on Saturday, September 21. Visitation at 10, service at 11. Internment at Fenn family Cemetery in Columbia MS.
