Frank Howell Wilson, age 63, of Madison, MS, died at University Medical Center on January 18, 2011 from complications of surgery. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 20, 2011 at Madison United Methodist Church from 5-7PM and Friday, January 21, 2011 from 10-11AM. Services will follow at 11AM at the church. Burial will follow at Montgomery Cemetery.
Frank was born on February 19, 1947 in Jackson, MS to the late John Purvis Wilson and Catherine Howell Wilson. He graduated from Provine High School in 1965, where he was a member of the Provine High School Band. He attended the University of Mississippi and Mississippi College. Frank was a member of the Army National Guard and the 41st Army Band. He retired in 1987 after 22 years of service. Frank worked for the Mississippi Motor Vehicle Authority and the University Medical Center, where he was Director of Information Systems. After 33 years of service with the State of Mississippi he retired in 2004.
Frank was a member of Madison United Methodist Church for the past 25 years, where he taught the Good News Sunday School Class. He also served and chaired numerous committees at the church. Frank was an active member of the Mississippi Methodist Cursillo, where he served as song leader on numerous occasions and as Chairman of the Secretariat from 2006-2007. He was a member of the board of Mississippi Federal Credit Union for 12 years and was an avid Ole Miss Rebel fan.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents and brother, John P. Wilson, Jr. Survivors include Jackie Drake Wilson his wife of 30 years; children Lisa Wilson Kainz (Josh) of Terry, MS, Laura Catherine Wilson of Nashville, TN, and Richard Drake Wilson, of Oxford, MS; grandchildren Jessica Dianne Allen and Elizabeth McNair Allen; one sister, Cathy Wilson Neill and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to thank the doctors and staff of University Medical Center Cancer Institute and University Hospital for the support and encouragement through Frank’s five-year battle with cancer.
