Evelyn Rose Lowery passed away peacefully at her home in Temple on January 2, 2023. She was born on November 4, 1931, in Yazoo County, Mississippi. She was the fourth of seven children born to Henry Elton and Edna Franklin Davis.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Elbert, JB, Lathan, Vernon, husbands Tillman U. Rose, Jr., and Wayne Lowery, son-in-law Alton Harrell, and daughter-in-law Becky Rose.
Evelyn enjoyed cooking for her family, friends, and Wednesday night dinners at her church. She also enjoyed reading, puzzles, gardening, and later in life, simply enjoyed the company of her family and watching the Gaither Homecoming series. She was a longtime member of Canyon Creek Baptist Church in Temple, Texas.
Evelyn accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior when she was 21 years old. During the twilight of her life, she talked about wanting to be with Jesus. Her life was exemplified by the fruit of the Spirit, love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.
She is survived by her daughters Teena Harrell and Brenda Peden (William), sons Robert Rose, Larry Rose (Janet), and Fred Lowery (Lillie), sisters Dee New and Linda Kay White, 12 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.
A visitation will be Saturday, January 14, 2023, at 10:00 AM at Lakewood Funeral Home, Jackson, Mississippi followed by a service at 11:00 AM.
Memorials may be given to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
