Emily Giles Mullins, 97, passed away December 11, 2014. Visitation is at Lakewood Funeral Home on Sunday, December 14, 2014 from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm and Monday December 15, 2014 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. Funeral services will be at 11:00 am in the chapel with interment to follow in Lakewood Memorial Park. Born February 21, 1917 to Dr. Robert E. and Mary Elizabeth Patton Giles in Tchula, MS, she was raised in Mendenhall, MS. She was later a resident of Jackson and Clinton, where she taught in the public schools until her retirement. She was a member of the Clinton First United Methodist Church of Clinton. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Berry Mullins, her parents, two sisters (Beatrice Calhoun and Hazel Cousson LaFey), an infant brother and her beloved nephew, Robert Eugene Cousson. She is survived by her son Robert Giles (Bob) Mullins of Dallas, TX, daughter Marilyn (Jeff) Blackledge of Clinton, two granddaughters, Beth (Scott) Denson of Frisco, TX and Lindsay (Christian) Llull of Austin, TX, two great grandchildren and her beloved nieces and nephews and their families with special mention of the deeply loved children of Robert Cousson, Michelle Williams, Aletha Nguyen and Rob Cousson, their families and their mother, Jeanette McNair. She also asked that her beloved teacher colleagues ("my girls") be remembered in her obituary with special mention of friends Joyce King and Jane Barefoot. The family would also like to thank and remember her special caregiver Christine Jackson for her years of love and compassion. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Robert Cousson Memorial Scholarship through the Clinton High School Alumni Association (CHSAA), P. O. Box 1600, Clinton, MS 39060 or to the First United Methodist Church of Clinton, 100 Mt Salus Drive, Clinton, MS.
