Elizabeth Bright Robertson, 86, formerly of Clinton, MS, died Thursday, September 17, at The Arbor in Ridgeland, MS. Visitation is Monday, September 21, 2015 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm and Tuesday, September 22, 2015 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Lakewood Funeral Home on Clinton Boulevard. A graveside service will be held Tuesday, September 22, 2015 at 11:00 am at Lakewood Memorial Park in Jackson, MS. Mrs. Robertson was born on November 15, 1928, in Aberdeen, Mississippi. She was a graduate of Aberdeen High School in 1946 and attended Blue Mountain College. She married Cohen Robertson in 1947. They made their home in Jackson, Mississippi, where she was a full-time homemaker while he worked for the Mississippi Employment Security Commission and served in the Mississippi National Guard. Mrs. Robertson was a busy parent, taking an active role in her children’s school and church activities as well as being involved in her community. She was a member of Parkway Baptist Church in Jackson for many years, holding leadership positions in WMU, teaching adult Sunday School, and serving on various church committees. After moving to Clinton in 1978, she willingly gave of her time to the ministries of First Baptist Church and enjoyed friendships and opportunities of service through various community organizations such as the Federated Maids and Matrons Club, Luncheon Club and Music Club. She looked forward to playing the piano for groups that sang in area nursing homes. Helping others and sharing with those in need were priorities for her. This was evident as she cared for her mother in her home for many years. She was preceded in death by her parents Ira Broyles Bright, Sr., and Claytie Thornton Bright; her brother Rev. Ira Broyles Bright, Jr., and her husband Cohen Everett Robertson, Sr. Survivors include her sister-in-law Lawanda Bright of Lufkin, Texas; daughter Beth Robertson Wilson and her husband, Fred, of Jackson and son Cohen E. Robertson, Jr. (Rob) of Clinton; two grandchildren Maggie Wilson Ethridge and her husband, Phil, of Madison and John Wilson and his wife Audrey of Jackson; and four great-grandchildren Wilson, Miller, Eliza Grace and Greta Ethridge. The family appreciates and thanks Mrs. Shirley Buckley of Orchard Care and Jonita Smith, Vera Johnson and Dorothy Karan for their faithfulness and kindness in caring for both Mr. and Mrs. Robertson over the past few years.
