Edward (EL) Spence passed away Thursday, June 22, 2023. He was 87 years old. Mr. Spence, or “Spence”, as he was known on the job was employed 42 years with Environment Masters in Jackson. He was a favorite with customers, many requesting him for their HVAC service each year. A long time resident of Jackson, he was a member of Southside Baptist Church, then Midway Baptist Church. Upon retirement, he returned to his hometown Hill Ridge community in north Louisiana where he pursued his interest in gardening. He was a member of Hill Ridge Baptist Church. His final years were spent his in the home of his daughter in Brandon.
Mr. Spence was a generous man volunteering his skills for family and neighbors and sponsoring several Christian charities.
Mr Spence is preceded in death by his wife of 30 years, Lucille Watkins Spence, his parents MJ and Elizabeth Spence, a daughter Barbara Spence, brothers Derriel Spence, Truett Spence and Garland Spence and a sister Cammie Lee.
He is survived by daughter Brenda (Tommy) Julian of Brandon, brothers CL (Thelma) Spence of Pearl, Sidney (Mary) Spence of Winnsboro, LA, Billy Spence of Winnsboro, LA and Marion (Susan) Spence of Winnsboro, LA, sisters Carrie Ruth Thornton of Many, LA, Sandra (Bill) Mulkey of Winnsboro, LA, Betty (Buddy) Willis of Jena, LA, Pauline (Paul) Smith of Bossier City, LA, Ann Tibbett of Many, LA and Roxie (Carlos) Blanco of Denton, TX.
There are seven grandchildren: Elise (Richard) Torres of Pearl, Trina (Osvin) Urbina of Pearl, Candice Waltman (Daniel) of Pearl, Norma Hardy of Brandon, Edward Atwood of Pearl, Matthew (Melody) Vick of Jackson and Danielle (Adam) Oden of Raymond. Mr Spence is also survived by 17 great-grandchildren, one great-great grandson and many nieces and nephews.
