A visitation for Wayne will be held Monday, April 8, 2024 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at First United Methodist Church-Clinton, 100 Mt. Salus Rd, Clinton, MS, followed by a memorial service at 11:00 AM. Wayne will be laid to rest in Lakewood Memorial Park, 6000 Clinton Blvd., Jackson, Mississippi 39209.
Wayne proudly served his country in the Air Force from 1952 to 1956 and was posted overseas during the Korean War. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Clinton since 1973. Wayne worked for The National Weather Service for 42 years. After his retirement from The National Weather Service, he volunteered at Merit Health Central and received the Volunteer of the Year award. He also volunteered at the Methodist Children's Home and received an award in 2014 for Distinguished Volunteer. Wayne enjoyed dancing and led the Living Young Line Dancers.
A cornerstone in Wayne's life was his relationship with Jesus. He was a faithful follower whose life helped point people to Christ through his kind and loving spirit.
Wayne is preceded in death by his parents, John and Annie Hopkins Gasson and brother, John H. Gasson. He is survived by his wife, Judy Yates Gasson; daughter, Sheree (Paul) Sella; son, Wayne (Beth) Gasson, Jr.; siblings, Bob (Beverly) Gasson, June Whitley and JoAnn Vick; granddaughters, Emily (Josh) Lawrence, Kellie (Corey) Jennings, Lauren (Jon) Hall, Rebecca Gasson, bonus granddaughters, Stephanie (Joey) Brown and Michelle (Chad) Misere; great grandchildren, Alyssa Hall, Carly Jennings, Darcy Lawrence, Madelyn Hall, Carson Jennings, Lilly Lawrence, Sisi Gasson, Garrett Misere, Davis Brown and Knox Misere.
The family would like to thank Accent Care Hospice, especially his nurse, Sarah, for the care and support they provided Wayne and our family over the past few months.
