Cynthia Bush Thigpen Martin, 72, passed during the early hours on October 9, 2015. Visitation will be Sunday, October 11, 2015, from 6 to 8 pm at Lakewood Funeral Home and Monday, October 12, 2015, from 10 to 11 am at Morrison Heights Baptist Church with services to follow at 11 am. Interment will be at Lakewood Memorial Park.
Cindy was born June 21, 1943 in Buford, SC, to the late Verl and Fannie West Bush, but grew up in Soso, MS. She spent the majority of her life in Clinton, MS. A well known and sought after cosmetologist and florist, Cindy was the proprietor of Sassy Scissors, Clinton Flower Company and Cindy’s Florist. She was a member of Morrison Heights Baptist Church in Clinton, MS, since its earliest days and was very active in various activites.
A devoted wife, sister, mother, and grandmother, Cindy left behind a family that loved and cared for her. She is survived by her husband, Charles Martin, Sr.; sister, Nan Gillion (Dave) of Grenada, MS; sons, Curtis Thigpen (Beth) of Madison MS and Jerry “Jay” Thigpen (Michelle) of Baton Rouge; grandchildren, Thomas Thigpen (Allie) of Brandon, MS, Jordan Thigpen, Taylor Thigpen (Caitlin), Melanie Thigpen of Madison, MS, Evan Thigpen and Max Thigpen of Baton Rouge, LA; step-children, Charles “Chuck” Martin, Jr. (Marie), Cynthia “Cindy” Martin (Chuck Avant) of Pineville, LA and Dr. William “Bill” Martin of Tuscaloosa, AL.
