Charles A. Manning, Jr. (Charlie) went home to be with the Lord on March 16, 2016. Charlie was born in Jackson, MS and graduated from Central High School. Following graduation he worked for a lumber company in Jackson for a few years. Also, during this time Charlie met and began courting his future wife, Virginia. The rest of his career was spent working for the Federal Housing Administration. Charlie served in the military and achieved the rank of sergeant. He also became a volunteer policeman in 1974 where he served with pride until his retirement.Charlie and Virginia had one daughter, Dixie Manning. Through the years they spent most of their time traveling together, especially to beloved Estes Park, CO. Charlie was also a sports fan, enjoying coaching little league baseball in the 1960's and following Ole Miss football and his favorite NFL players, Peyton and Eli Manning.Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, Charles A. manning, Sr. and Carrye P. Manning; wife, Virginia; daughter, Dixie Manning; and sister -in-law, Beebe Bruckner. He is survived by his brother, Palmer Manning (Becky) of Clarkesville, GA; along with several nieces and nephews; and his beautiful four-legged companion, Bo. Charlie enjoyed spending time with the friends he made while living at Chateau Ridgeland. The family wishes to express appreciation for the help given by Beebe Bruckner, Allen Hart and the Assisting Angels.Visitation with the family will be held at Lakewood Memorial Park funeral home on Clinton Blvd., on Saturday morning at 9:00 a.m. with the funeral to follow at 10:30 a.m. Memorials may be made to The Manning Fund for a Healthier Mississippi at www.manningsforhealth.org
